 Educational Background

 

  • Graduated from the University of Dhaka with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and subsequently pursued a master’s degree in Conservation Biology with an Erasmus Mundus LEADER scholarship in 2017.
  • I was awarded a Marie Curie Innovative Training Network fellowship (www.epidiverse.eu) during my doctoral studies at Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Spain.

 

Professional Background

 

  • I worked as an early-stage researcher at the CSIC in Seville, Spain, where I primarily focused on the analysis of (epi)genetic data. In addition to my aspiration to pursue a career in research with a concentration on environmental and climate change, I have worked in multiple capacities at notable NGOs (Shakti Foundation), including as the Climate Change Program Coordinator and co-founder of the youth-led social enterprise GenLab. I participated as a national representative for my country at leadership youth summits and conferences in Potsdam, Germany (2017); the G20 Interfaith Summit, Kerala, India (2016); Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia (2016); ISESCO HQ, Morocco (2015); the Harvard University National Model UN, Boston, USA (2014); and the Asia Pacific Model United Nations, Thailand (2012).  Additionally, I was a technical committee member of the Climate Action Champions Network in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific (https://www.orfonline.org/forums/climate-action-champions-network/technical-committee) and served as a national selection juror for Bangladesh – Climate Launchpad in the global green business ideas competition, which was organized by EIT Climate-KIC (2020) and Gen Lab. I am currently employed as a collaborating researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela to analyze drought data from realistic simulation of climate change scenarios from a long-term field experiment at the Ecotron in Montpellier, France. I also have training in science communication from Wissenschaft im Dialog in Berlin, Germany, and I designed and conducted many science communication outreach activities.
